Object 9's Interactive Design Earns Two Nods in International Web Competition

Object 9 recently earned two silver W3 Awards for the agency’s recent design of Kris Wine’s Web site and the Red Stick International Animation Festival’s Web site. The W3 Awards honors creative excellence on the Web by recognizing the interactive agencies, designers and marketing professionals behind topnotch Web sites, Web advertising and Web video.

Launched in May 2009, Kris Wine’s site blends art and wine for a unique gallery experience. Object 9’s design mission was to make consumers feel as if they are sitting in an art gallery where Kris Wines are on display along with paintings and other fine art. The site’s navigation reflects the clean, contemporary personality of Kris’ Pinot Grigio, Merlot and Pinot Noir, and visitors can get an in-depth look at Kris’ distinct labels, sketched by contemporary Italian artist Riccardo Schweizer who used Kris’ blend of art and science in the winemaking process as inspiration for his work.

The Flash elements and navigation Object 9 used for the Red Stick International Animation Festival’s Web site create a presence reflective of a prestigious international animation festival. The introduction of Flash animation and changing storyboard visual on the home page highlight the creative side of the animation industry while the navigation and design bring out the festival’s energy and introduces the event’s professional, educational and family fun tracks. In addition, social media sites such as Twitter, Flickr, Facebook and MySpace were integrated into the communications strategy to communicate real-time information regarding the festival’s events and speakers.

Currently in its fourth year, the 2009 W3 Awards received nearly 3,000 entries from across the globe. The awards competition is sanctioned and judged by the International Academy of Visual Arts, and sponsored by AdvertisingAge. A full list of winners can be found at www.w3award.com.
